HushPublication
This publication reveals and brings awareness of the secret
deportation of Chinese seamen in
Liverpool in 1945. During the second
world war it was estimated that around
20,000 Chinese seamen had been
recruited to join the war efforts. Manny
of them had then settled in Liverpool and started families but in 1945 the Home Office discreetly
deported around
2,000 Chinese seamen
who then had to leave their families
behind.
The pages of this publication are laser cut to show the disappearance of these men, and the text consists of extracts from the memory police by
Yoko Ogawa.
